Elixir Repertoire Designer

The Elixir Repertoire Designer is a standalone design tool containing the following components:

  • Elixir Data Designer
  • Elixir Report Designer

Data Designer

The Elixir Data Designer is used to extract, merge and process data from a variety of datasources (DS), either to generate direct data output (for example, Excel files or database records), or to feed data into Elixir Report.

Report Designer

The Elixir Report Designer is used to design report templates and render data into a variety of output formats, including PDF, Excel and HTML.

User Interface

The Elixir Repertoire application consists of three parts:

  • Elixir Repository
  • Action Bar
  • Workspace

Repository

The Elixir Repository panel on the left of the application lists all the files/file system in the repository. It also allows user to add file/file system into the repository. The most recent files used are listed in the REcent Files at the bottom of the panel.

There are two icons at the upper top right corner of the panel.

Connect Server

The “Connect” icon when clicked, allows the user to connect to a server through a dialog box.

Key in the appropriate information, then click on the “Connect” button to connect to the server. Click on the “Cancel” button to abort the action.

Refresh

The “Refresh” icon when clicked refreshes the repository and re-instate the original state.

Recent Files

A list of maximum five recently opened files are displayed at the bottom of the repository panel. The list is in the first-in-first-out order with the most recent file at the top.

Adjust Width

User can adjust the width of the repository panel by dragging the the border of the panel.

Action Bar

The Action Bar at the top of the right panel shows all the action icons available for the type of file/file system selected in the repository.

The action icons provides the following functions:

Function Description
Collapse/Expand Repository Collapse or expand the Elixir Repository.
By default the Elixir Repository is expanded. Once the desired datasource has been selected, it may be useful to collapse to create more workspace for the datasource.
Save Saves the workspace that has been edited.
This icon will be disabled until an edit as been made on the datasource.
Save As Saves the workspace as another datasource.
Properties Displays the Datasource Wizard for the datasource selected.
Global Properties Displays the global properties of the Repertoire.
Also allows you to load a license file.
Show Help Launches the manual of Elixir Repertoire.
Show Console Displays the Elixir Repertoire Console dialog box.
Pathname Displays the path of the datasource.
Close View Closes the current workspace view.
Right-click on the icon displays the options to select the view to close:
- Close This View - closes the current view
- Close Other Views - closes other views except current view
- Close All Views - closes all views
If there is only one view opened, only the first option is enabled.
Progress Indicator Indicates the progress of the application while data is being loaded.
This indicator includes a popup menu that allows long operations to be aborted. Right-click on the icon will display the current status of the application.

Workspace

The Workspace panel on the right of the application displays a tab or several tabs for the item selected in the repository.

For example, if a datasource us selected, Action Bar will display the action icons available for a datasource and the workspace will display a tab with the information of the datasource.

In another example, a RML file is selected, three tabs are displayed in the Workspace panel.
