Rules

The Rules page allows user to define the policies, conditions, or logic applied to manage, govern, and utilise the metadata and data assets cataloged in the system. These rules help ensure data quality, security, compliance and usability.

There are three sub-options:

  • Validation
  • Presentation
  • Editing

Validation

Validation rules define the conditions or logic applied to verify the accuracy, integrity and consistency of data assets in the data catalog. These rules help detect data issues early and ensure that datasets meet required quality standards before being used for analytics, reporting or integration.

Presentation

Presentation rules define the guidelines or configurations that control how data and metadata are displayed to users. These rules help to make the metadata clear, consistent, user-friendly and tailored to specific user roles or business needs.

Presentation rules do not alter the data itself. Instead, they define how data is shown, such as field visibility, display format, naming conventions, labeling, or grouping/categorisation.

Editing

Editing rules defines the policies and configurations that control how metadata can be changed and under what conditions. These rules ensure that metadata is updated in a controlled, secure and consistent manner, supporting data governance and integrity.
